Pregnancy Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a gentle and a safe treatment throughout pregnancy. During pregnancy, mothers-to-be adapt to major changes in a short space of time which can cause aches and pains in the body such as pain in your pelvis, ribs or hips or lower back pain. You may also experience pain or discomfort when walking or turning in bed which could be caused by Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction.

Although these problems are common in pregnancy, it does not mean you need to suffer! Osteopathy may help relieve the stresses and strains on your body during pregnancy.

Post-Partum

Mothers tend to put themselves second and do everything to ensure their baby’s wellbeing before thinking about themselves. However, it is important to remember that mothers have gone through the birth too.

A post-natal check after the baby arrives may also help mothers recover from the birth. Treatment is aimed at gently relieving general aches and pains including joint and back pain.

Osteopaths sometimes work alongside lactation consultants to give postural advice related to breastfeeding.
